Here are screenshots of Windows and some programs hacked with Hackextr and Unikick (see SGTools package on Software download page and Winkicks on Articles & Documentation page). By the way, you can find most icons used on pictures below inside SGTools. All these screenshots were made 1997-1998.
Q: Is it real screenshots?
A: Yes! I just removed registration and
version information from 2 screenshots and combined some screenshots
together.
Q: Why?...
A: If you were sitting with Win 9x for
a long time, you probably would understand it. Lame, buggy, slow system
with ugly interface and periodical crashes which constantly screams:
"I am the best!!! I am the most perfect!!! Microsoft rule!!!"
and so on. Pretty controversial point of view, especially if you had seen
OS/2 Warp Merlin. So I just wanted to make the system looking more
self-critical, funny and just not like other's. That's all.
Q: Do/did you do the same things with
any newer versions of Windows?
A: No! I moved to Linux and I have no interest in
Window$. Under Linux, I really enjoy the environment and I don't feel
like to do any stuff like that with KDE or Gnome :)
Q: Can you give me hacked files (executables)?
A: No. I don't even have ones. Everything is lost
under sands of time.
Q: Was that (a modification of binary files)
in violation of Windows (or other) EULA?
A: First, I consider that as a "fair use".
I didn't do any analyse of code or decompilation and I didn't distribute
changed files nor I would. I just "configured" the system to look
more like what I want; this is not anyhow related to illegal copying or
stealing "great" Micro$oft's programming ideas from their code ;)
Second, it all was done that old-good time
when there was no any problem pirating and hacking any software in Russia!
